Houston - The wait is finally over.

After months of speculation, the Houston Rockets unveiled their brand new third jerseys today at Toyota Center. The new uniform, which will see its first on-court action November 6 when the Rockets host Oklahoma City, represents the culmination of more than a year’s worth of work for the jersey’s designer, Rockets’ Creative Services Manager Jose Lopez.

Lopez created six different versions of the jersey, which were then sent to Adidas to help provide the sports apparel company with a foundation from which to base their own designs. Adidas responded with eight variations of Lopez’s creation, but after an arduous selection process which included the entire Rockets’ organization from owner Leslie Alexander on down, the team opted to stick with the original version Lopez had created.

“I can’t wait to see the players wear it on the court,” says Lopez. “I’ve always thought that it’s pretty amazing to have a blank piece of paper and then create something – that blank canvas the company has offered me has been great. To actually sketch something out with pencil on paper, then to put it on the computer and now to hold it in your hands and know the players are going to wear it – that’s an unbelievable feeling.”
