Today, the Sacramento Kings unveiled their fourth uniform for the 2017-18 season, the Nike City Edition uniforms. The baby blue and red color scheme that has woven through the franchise’s history and forever connected to the team that began the City’s love affair with basketball returns to the team’s identity for a refreshed look.

The team’s baby blue and red color scheme will transform Golden 1 Center from the court up, when the new “Sactown” hardwood – one of three courts developed to connect with the Nike uniform scheme – is utilized for select games beginning in February. The Kings are the only NBA franchise to feature a court connected to each of its uniform combinations.

“Thirty-two years ago, the Kings transformed Sacramento and created a community of basketball fans that are unmatched around the NBA,” said Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart. “The City Uniforms look back at the team that forever changed Sacramento, with new emblems for the next generation of fan and the future of our team.”

During the final season (2015-16) at Sleep Train Arena, the Kings brought back the original Baby Blues and a matching court to celebrate the franchise’s proud past, before moving to Golden 1 Center and beginning the next chapter of its proud future. For the 2017-18 season, the City Edition blends elements of the team’s storied identity, with new emblems and insignia of a new era of Kings basketball.

For the first time, the team’s secondary lion is introduced to the uniform scheme. The mark – in a new red and granite color palette – pays tribute to the unmatched pride and loyalty of the NBA’s best fans.

Granite striping follows the contours of the jersey outlining the retro red trim. The white accent blocking along the shoulders of the uniform, modernize the team’s retro look. “Sacramento Proud” embossed above the jock tag, reminds the team of the fans and their passion for the franchise each time they step on to the court.

The team’s granite crown – linked to the pride of the franchise – updates the waistband of the shorts. At the left knee, the Kings retro script has been updated with the team’s modern typeface introduced in 2016.

For eight home games during the 2017-18 season, the Kings will utilize the City Edition uniforms and “Sactown” Court at Golden 1 Center. New t-shirts, hats, and gear provide fans the opportunity to mirror the squad’s on-court look.

In celebration of NBA Xmas, the Sacramento Kings today introduced their third court of the 2017-18 campaign.
The new-look playing surface is dedicated to the pride of the fans, franchise and city.

Inspired by the team’s 1985-86 colorways, the hardwood will accompany a soon-to-be released Nike City Edition uniform to complete the squad’s “From the Court Up” series.

In another first-of-its-kind activation, red, white and baby-blue blends the franchise’s storied past with emblems that indicate “Where Future is King,” as the Kings become the only NBA team to feature a unique court for each of its three uniform combinations.

The team’s secondary lion – a fan favorite from its inception last year – takes center court for the first time with a new color treatment, while each baseline is embossed with popular city nickname – Sactown.

Baby blue returns to the apron of the surface with a modern touch, as red trim links the near 100 years of the franchise – from Rochester to Cincinnati to Kansas City to forever Sacramento.

Lastly, and identical to the team’s existing courts, Sacramento Proud holds down the sideline opposite the scorer’s table.

When the home team takes the “Sactown” floor in the new City Edition uniform, the Kings and their fans will rise as “One. Proud. City.”

Sacramento, CA – Today, the Sacramento Kings unveiled an alternative court design for the 2017-18 season. The new black court, reflects the design elements of the team’s global marks, including new logos specific to India and China. As part of the franchise’s mission, the team strives to make basketball the premier sport of the 21st century beyond traditional borders.

The team will use this customizable floor through the season when wearing the Global Uniform at home. Building a brand that connects with fans around the world will help create an authentic connection with emerging international basketball audiences, from the court up through jerseys, apparel and more.

International elements are present throughout the new design. For the team’s biggest global celebrations, Bollywood and Lunar New Year theme nights, interchangeable panels featuring a new regional logo – a Kings crown featuring the team’s name in Hindi or Mandarin – will be added to the floor. The Kings will use these marks, in addition to the primary logo in future India and China endeavors.

For other games, the team’s global crest – a heralding lion, a symbol of leadership and strength recognized around the world – will remain at center court. The granite “S”, inspired by the city’s flag showing the inseparable link between the community and team, will wrap around the floor along the apron.

The team will utilize three courts this season – the purple hardwood design from the 2016-17 season will return when the team wears the Association and Icon Edition uniforms, the new black court will be in place during games with global themes and when the team suits up in the Global uniform, and a third court will debut during the season when the team’s fourth uniform is announced.

“It’s a deep-seated sentiment, and one that defines the relationship between our city and our team.” – Sacramento Kings Chief Marketing Officer Ben Gumpert.

The powerful declaration now spans 32-feet on the team’s freshly-minted court, shining amongst a host of new features set to welcome Kings fans for the 2014-15 season.

Rich in tradition and history, a deep purple surrounds the 15 silver letters embossed on the team’s near sideline.

For three decades, Sacramento has been home to the NBA’s loudest supporters.

Now, as the team embarks on its second season under the leadership of Owner Vivek Ranadivé, the Kings will compete on a surface representative of its connection with its relentlessly-devoted fanbase.

“Sacramento Proud is about knowing that we never forget where we’re from and who we represent,” said Gumpert.

For two decades, purple has united the Kings and their fans. Now, the team’s primary color fully encases the team’s updated playing surface.

“We opted for a new, darker purple for the court,” said Kings Creative Director Ryan Brijs. “It’s a richer, stronger shade and it closely matches our 2014-15 uniforms."

Seamlessly transitioning from sideline to baseline, Sacramento’s name now stretches 38 feet in a new typeface across the refinished hardwood.

Making its debut on the court, a pair of purple crowns, the new secondary Kings logo, graces the court adjacent to each hoop inside the three-point line.

The Kings time-tested primary logo returns to its center-court position in a much more prominent role than before.

“It's quite large, approximately 20-feet by 23-feet,” explained Brijs. “We’re not the only team in the League going with a big center-court logo this season, but ours is certainly one of the biggest.”

Commemorating the team’s 30th season, a retro-inspired milestone emblem will appear near the timeline during select contests.

“It’s a simplified version of the design our season ticket members selected,” said Brijs. “The team will also wear this mark as a patch on their home jerseys this year.”

From its distinct sentiment to its team-uniting foundation, the stage has been set for a PROUD season of SACRAMENTO basketball.
