Interactive Community will Host Free-to-Enter Tournament on Saturday, February 4

Winner will Receive a Signed Kings Guard Davion Mitchell Jersey

Today, the Sacramento Kings, in partnership with Rival, announced “The Realm,” an online community for gamers around the world to connect, compete and engage with the team.

“The Realm and our partnership with Rival gives us the opportunity to engage with fans beyond the Sacramento region,” said Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart. “As esports continues to grow, we are excited to offer our gaming community a place to connect with each other and the Kings franchise.”

The Realm will host a number of online tournaments featuring various game titles such as NBA2K, Fortnite, Rocket League and more to help reach fans of all ages and interests. Programming will consist of monthly tournaments for fans to enter to win cash, experiences and prizes from the Sacramento Kings, Stockton Kings and Kings Guard Gaming.

On Saturday, February 4 at 10 a.m., The Realm will host a free-to-enter tournament featuring Fall Guys, an online multiplayer obstacle course game. Fans can sign up until 9 a.m. on February 4 at Kings.com/TheRealm. The winner will receive a Kings City Edition jersey signed by Kings guard Davion Mitchell.

Sacramento Kings Announce Esports Tournament Platform “The Realm” in Partnership with Rival 

SACRAMENTO, Calif. ----&nbsp;The Sacramento Kings have signed&nbsp;Deonte Burton to a 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Burton joins the Sacramento Kings from the Stockton Kings (11-3), the Kings G-League affiliate, where he’s averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 54.5 percent from the field through the regular season.&nbsp;

The 28-year-old has seen action in 71 regular season NBA games. Burton, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native played for the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2018-2020.

Kings Sign Deonte Burton to 10-Day Contract

Today, the Sacramento Kings announced that the team has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with General Manager Monte McNair. The contract for Kings Assistant General Manager Wes Wilcox has also been extended.

“This has been an exciting season and I’m proud to have the opportunity to continue building a winning franchise in Sacramento,” said Kings General Manager Monte McNair. “I am especially grateful to Vivek, the entire Kings organization and the fans for supporting me every step of the way. I’d like to thank our players and coaches for their hard work on and off the court. And I’m excited to have Wes Wilcox’s continued counsel and partnership, along with the rest of our fantastic front office and staff. We recognize we have more work to do, and I look forward to what’s ahead.”

“Monte is an integral part of this organization, and I am thrilled to announce his extension,” said Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “Since joining the Kings, Monte and Wes have proven to be thoughtful and strategic decision makers who have shown their ability to execute a long-term vision for the team. The work continues, and I have confidence in this front office to keep driving our efforts forward.”

Since becoming General Manager of the Kings prior to the 2020-21 season, McNair has made several moves to bolster the roster. McNair extended De’Aaron Fox in 2020 before drafting Davion Mitchell with the ninth selection in the 2021 NBA Draft. McNair went on to add two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis, who currently leads the league in rebounding and double-doubles, and Trey Lyles via trade in February 2022. Additionally, McNair hired Head Coach Mike Brown in May 2022 and selected Keegan Murray fourth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft before adding Kevin Huerter via trade and signing Malik Monk in free agency. The Kings currently sit third in the Western Conference (27-19).

With those moves, McNair has orchestrated one of the most prolific offensive teams in the NBA this season and helped guide Sacramento to their best start since the 2004-05 season. Offensively, the Kings rank first in scoring (120.3 PPG), second in efficiency (117.9), third in field goal percentage (49.5%), fourth in assists (27.2 APG), seventh in made 3-pointers (630) and ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (37.1%). Sacramento has scored 130 points or more in 11 games, leading the NBA, and made 20+ 3-pointers in four games this season, including a franchise record 23 triples versus Orlando on January 9, 2023.

Before taking the helm in Sacramento, McNair was a member of the Houston Rockets front office since 2007, which included a promotion to Assistant General Manager in 2018. Throughout his 13 years in Houston, McNair was involved with all aspects of player evaluation, including trade, free agency and the Draft.

Today, the Sacramento Kings announced the return and expansion of the eighth annual Capitalize, the NBA’s first crowdsourced startup competition, which offers local entrepreneurs the chance to secure funding and resources, receive mentorship and increase awareness about their business. Though this effort, Capitalize extends the Kings commitment to providing opportunities for up-and-coming innovators, giving them the platform to showcase new products and services on the NBA’s global stage.

This year, the Kings are expanding the Capitalize platform to provide two new sectors with support in capacity building, connections and pilot opportunities. The three Capitalize contests will include:

“The Kings are proud to showcase innovative entrepreneurs in the Sacramento region and beyond through our groundbreaking Capitalize competition,” said Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart. “We are thrilled to expand the Capitalize platform to additional sectors, providing more resources and mentorship opportunities to the next generation of creators and trailblazers.”

Applications for the competition’s first contest, Capitalize: Technology, presented by Dialpad, the world’s most advanced business communications company, are now open. Startups located within 75 miles of Sacramento are eligible to apply at Kings.com/Capitalize, with applications closing on Thursday, February 2 at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced during Tech Night on March 24 as the Kings take on the Phoenix Suns and will receive a $10,000 cash prize towards the development of their startup and three years of access to Dialpad communication services.

"We are excited to see the Capitalize contest expand and encourage entrepreneurship in technology, food and global innovation," said Dialpad Founder and CEO Craig Walker. "Much like in basketball, inspiration and teamwork are driving forces for entrepreneurs. We're eager to see what amazing ideas come from this year's teams."

Applicants will be narrowed down to the “Select 16” on February 6. The “Top 8” will be announced on February 10 and will receive additional coaching as they prepare for Pitch Day on March 1. At Pitch Day, a panel of successful entrepreneurs, executives and investors will judge the “Top 8’s” pitches and select the “4 Finalists.”

The “4 Finalists” will create pitch videos that will be displayed on Kings.com/Capitalize and will be used for fan voting via Twitter. Fans will have the opportunity to cast a vote starting March 2 until halftime of Kings game on March 24. The judges’ votes, along with fan votes, will be tallied and the Capitalize grand prize winner will be announced during the game. In addition, the second and third place winners will be awarded a prize of $3,000 and $1,500, respectively.

Last year, EyeRate, a rating platform that pays service employees cash when they get mentioned in online reviews and social media content, was crowned the winner of the 2022 Capitalize competition.

The Sacramento Kings have signed PJ Dozier to a second 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Dozier signed a 10-day contract with Sacramento on Jan. 9 and has appeared in three games for the Kings. Prior to joining the Kings this season, Dozier played for the Iowa Wolves, the Minnesota Timberwolves G-League affiliate, where he averaged 18.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 36.8 minutes per game in the regular season.

The 26-year-old has seen action in 108 regular season NBA games and 12 NBA playoff games. Dozier, a Columbia, South Carolina, native played for the Denver Nuggets from 2019-2022.

CHEQ Also Adds Social Payment Allowing Purchases for Fans to Occur Outside of the Arena

Today, the Sacramento Kings, in partnership with CHEQ, announced an innovative technology partnership for mobile ordering, social payments and express kiosks at Golden 1 Center. As a result, fans will be able to use CHEQ’s technology to reduce order wait times in the arena and share the gameday experience with their friends during the 2022-23 NBA Season.

“Golden 1 Center continues to push the envelope, remaining at the forefront of new technology to provide a seamless payment experience for our fans,” said Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart. “Additionally, with CHEQ’s new social sharing feature, fans outside of the arena can add to the fun of the game by sending purchases to their friends and family inside the venue from anywhere in the world.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Kings and the entire Sacramento community to enhance the gameday experience,” said CHEQ Co-Founder and CRO Jake Stone. “In addition to social sharing, our technology enables fans to reduce wait times for their favorite foods by placing orders on their phones for select locations.”

Mobile ordering for pick-up will be available at select concession locations throughout the arena starting Friday as the team takes on the Oklahoma City Thunder, enabling fans to enjoy their favorite food, beverages and treats easily and friction-free. In addition, express kiosk ordering will be enabled at four of the busiest concessions in the arena.

Under the agreement, CHEQ will become the Official Mobile Ordering and Social Payments Partner of the Sacramento Kings, Golden 1 Center and Kings Guard Gaming.
