Utah Jazz Acquire Kevin Knox II, Future Draft Pick, and Draft Rights from Detroit Pistons

Team sends Simone Fontecchio to Detroit in deal

The Utah Jazz have acquired forward Kevin Knox II, a future second round draft pick, and the draft rights to Gabriele Procida (36th overall in 2022) in a trade, sending forward Simone Fontecchio to the Detroit Pistons.

Knox II (6-7, 215, Kentucky) is in his sixth NBA season and in 2023-24 is averaging 7.2 points on 46.2 percent from the field, along with 2.4 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per contest. For his career, the 24-year-old has appeared in 306 games (77 starts) for New York, Atlanta, Portland, and Detroit, owning averages of 7.4 points and 2.9 boards in 18.0 minutes per contest. 

A native of Tampa, Fla., he was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft (ninth overall) by the Knicks, after one collegiate season at Kentucky (2017-18), where he averaged 15.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 37 games (all starts). Following his freshman season, he was named the 2017-18 SEC Freshman of the Year and to the All-SEC First Team. 

Fontecchio (6-7, 200, Italy) played two seasons with Jazz, appearing in 102 games (40 starts), averaging 7.6 points, 2.6 boards, and 1.1 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.
