Jazz Signs First-Round Pick Rudy Gobert

SALT LAKE CITY (July 6, 2013) – The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has signed 2013 first-round draft pick Rudy Gobert (27th overall). Per team policy, terms of the deals were not released. The 21-year-old center is expected to participate in the Jazz’s entry in the 2013 Orlando Pro Summer League, which begins on Sunday.

The Jazz acquired the draft rights to Gobert in a draft-night trade with Denver that sent the Nuggets the rights to the 46th overall pick and cash considerations.

A native of Saint Quentin, France, Gobert (7-1, 235) averaged 8.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 22.2 minutes per game for Cholet Basket of the French League in 2012-13 and was named a 2013 French Pro A All-Star. Gobert was also named to the U-20 European Championship Division A All-Tournament Team and selected as Eurobasket.com All-European Championships U-20 Best Center in 2012.

The French big man owns a 7-9 wingspan and 9-7 standing reach.
