Hornets Sign Bryce McGowens To Multi-Year Deal

McGowens Was Previously Signed to a Two-Way Contract.

February 26, 2023 – Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today the team has signed guard Bryce McGowens a multi-year deal. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Hornets acquired McGowens, who was originally selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round (40th overall) of the 2022 NBA Draft, via a draft night trade in exchange for Josh Minott and a 2023 second-round draft pick. McGowens signed a two-way contract with Charlotte on July 2, 2022.

McGowens has appeared in 26 games (one start) for the Hornets this season, averaging 4.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14.7 minutes per game. In 10 total games with the Greensboro Swarm across the G League Showcase and regular season, McGowens has posted 22.4 points (43.7 FG%, 82.8 FT%), 4.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 35.4 minutes per game.

McGowens averaged 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 33.3 minutes per game across 31 contests (31 starts) in his lone season at Nebraska (2021-22). He earned All-Big Ten Third Team and Big Ten All-Freshman honors, in addition to being named the Big Ten Newcomer of the Year.
