June 30, 2023 – The Charlotte Hornets announced today the team’s Summer League minicamp roster presented by Novant Health. The Hornets will participate in the California Classic in Sacramento from July 3-5 and participate in the NBA2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas from July 7-18. Hornets assistant coach Marlon Garnett will serve as head coach of the Hornets Summer League team, with a roster highlighted by Brandon Miller, the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The Hornets Summer League roster is subject to change at any time throughout the team’s minicamp, the California Classic and NBA2K24 Summer League.
Nick Smith Jr., the 27th overall pick in the draft, and both of Charlotte’s second-round selections – James Nnaji and Amari Bailey – will also suit up for Summer League. They will be joined by Hornets roster players James Bouknight, Kai Jones and Bryce McGowens. The team’s full roster is listed below.
Prior to departing for Summer League, the Hornets will hold a three-day minicamp at the Novant Health Training Center inside Spectrum Center. The minicamp schedule is below, and information regarding media availabilities will be communicated the day before each practice. Media attending practices should enter through the Rick Bonnell Employee and Media entrance located at Fifth and Brevard St. and proceed to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Home Court area. A member of the communications staff will escort media into the practice facility.
Charlotte begins its summer action in Sacramento by taking on San Antonio on July 3 (8:00 p.m. ET, ESPN) before finishing off the California Classic with a meeting against Golden State on July 5 (6:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2).
The Hornets open play in Las Vegas on July 7 against San Antonio (9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN) in a matchup of the top two picks in this year’s draft. Charlotte squares off against the L.A. Lakers on July 9 (4:00 p.m. ET, ESPN2) before facing Portland, which owned the No. 3 pick in the draft, on July 11 (8:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV). The Hornets finish off the group stage with a matchup versus New Orleans on July 13 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV).
All 76 games of the 11-day competition will air live on television on ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPNews) or NBA TV. Every game will also be available to stream on the ESPN App or NBA App.
