LOWELL, Mass. – The Boston Celtics CommUNITY Crew, in partnership with TD Bank, volunteered at the Merrimack Valley Food Bank on Tuesday.

The Merrimack Valley Food Bank is committed to assisting low-income families, homeless and hungry by providing nutritious meals to local feeding programs. On a monthly basis, the food bank provides approximately 70,000 individuals with food through partnerships with various shelters, meal programs and pantries in the area.

Throughout the day Celtics center Tyler Zeller, Celtics legend Dana Barros, Celtics mascot Lucky, and TD Bank employees teamed up to lend a helping hand.

Together the volunteers sorted, inspected, and stocked the shelves, assisted warehouse staff with orders, and packaged groceries to be delivered on the mobile pantry to homebound elderly. In addition, volunteers packed bags of food for over 700 local youth to take home from school as a part of Operation Nourish.

In his first appearance as a Celtics player, Zeller recognized the value the Celtics organization has on service and community.

“It was exciting to be here today,” reflected Zeller. “It is important for us all to do our part to help families and children in our community who are in need.

“I may not have been the most productive member of the group since I spilled a box of macaroni. But it was a true team effort from all the volunteers here today.”
