BOSTON – Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari seemed to be perfect offseason additions, in the eyes of Brad Stevens, for a Celtics team that just finished two wins shy of an NBA championship. Spending the past 24 hours getting to know his newest acquisitions only strengthened the Celtics President of Basketball Operations’ belief in the veteran duo.
The Boston Celtics made their first splash of free agency Tuesday morning by signing Danilo Gallinari, a 14-year veteran sharpshooter who should add size and scoring to Boston’s bench. Gallinari is the second major addition that the C’s have made in the past four days after acquiring Malcolm Brogdon, a versatile combo guard, via a trade with the Indiana Pacers Saturday afternoon.
Matt Ryan’s miraculous game-winning heave capped off a bizarre finish to Monday’s matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, earning the Boston Celtics their first win of the 2022 Summer League in Las Vegas. With his team down 109-108, Ryan dribbled three quarters of the way up the court before throwing up one-handed, off-balance bank shot, which found its way through the net with 0.5 seconds remaining.
