Warriors Guard Stephen Curry Honored by Charlotte Christian School and Davidson College in North Carolina

Warriors guard Stephen Curry’s jersey was retired by his high school, Charlotte Christian School, and the student section at Davidson College was named in honor of the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player in dual ceremonies this evening. Curry attended both events while the Warriors are in Charlotte ahead of their game against the Hornets tomorrow night.

Curry was a three-year varsity player for Charlotte Christian, leading the Knights to three conference titles and three appearances in the state playoffs. A graduate of the class of 2006, Curry was named to the All-Conference and All-State teams as a junior and a senior. His #20 was the first jersey retired by Charlotte Christian, which occurred this evening in a ceremony at halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game against Covenant Day School.

Following the jersey retirement ceremony at Charlotte Christian, Curry attended the dedication of the student section at Davidson College’s John M. Belk Arena, which was named “Section 30” in his honor as a nod to the jersey number he wore as a Wildcat and currently sports in the NBA. Curry is Davidson College’s all-time leading scorer, finishing his collegiate career with 2,635 points over three seasons with the Wildcats, and he led the nation in scoring as a junior in 2008-09 by averaging 28.6 points in 34 games. During his sophomore campaign in 2007-08, Curry led Davidson to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 10 seed, earning NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional Most Outstanding Player honors. The student section dedication ceremony at Davidson took place during halftime of the Wildcats’ game against Duquesne this evening.
