Warriors Sign Mac McClung, Pat Spencer and Trevion Williams to Contracts

The 2022 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors have signed guards Mac McClung and Pat Spencer and forward Trevion Williams, it was announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not released.

McClung, 23, appeared in two games as a rookie in 2021-22, tallying 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.5 minutes in appearances with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Undrafted out of Texas Tech University in the 2021 NBA Draft, McClung was named 2021-22 NBA G League Rookie of the Year after averaging 21.7 points, 7.6 assists (fifth in the G League), 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 36.0 minutes over 27 regular season games with the South Bay Lakers and Windy City Bulls. He recorded a triple-double (29 points, 11 assists, 11 rebounds) on Feb. 3 vs. Salt Lake City and scored a career-high 37 points on Feb. 6 vs. Santa Cruz. The 6’2” guard participated in the 2022 Las Vegas Summer League with Golden State, averaging 13.4 points, 4.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds in five appearances.

Spencer, 26, spent the 2021-22 season with the G League’s Capital City Go-Go, averaging 7.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 14.5 minutes over 15 games. He tallied averages of 10.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 29.4 minutes over 31 games in his lone season at Northwestern in 2019-20 following a prolific lacrosse career at Loyola University Maryland, where he earned both the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the top male and female college lacrosse players in the country, and the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Lt. Raymond J. Enners Most Outstanding Player Award. Spencer was the No. 1 overall selection in the Premier Lacrosse League’s inaugural draft in 2019 before joining the Wildcats basketball team as a graduate transfer. He was undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Williams, 21, was named the Big Ten’s Sixth Man of the Year as a senior at Purdue in 2021-22, averaging 12.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 20.1 minutes over 37 games (four starts) and garnering Third Team All-Big Ten honors. As a junior, Williams was named Honorable Mention All-America (AP) and earned First Team All-Big Ten accolades with averages of 15.5 points and 9.1 rebounds in 28 games (26 starts). Over four seasons with the Boilermakers, the 6’10” forward averaged 10.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 19.0 minutes over 130 games (60 starts), ending his collegiate career as one of only three Big Ten players in the last 30 years to record at least 1,400 points, 900 rebounds and 225 career assists (Draymond Green, Ethan Happ). He was undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft.
