Los Angeles Lakers

The Warriors will begin the 2022-23 season by hosting the Los Angeles Lakers on Opening Night. Ahead of tipoff, the Dubs will receive their 2022 NBA Championship rings. Last year, the Warriors and Lakers also tipped off their regular season series on Opening Night, with the Dubs earning a 121-114 victory. Along with notable returners LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers acquired forward Juan Toscano-Anderson in the offseason. Toscano-Anderson played a total of 139 games over three seasons with the Warriors, averaging 4.8 points per game.
Denver Nuggets

Picking up where postseason play left off, the Warriors will meet the Denver Nuggets in the opening week of the 2022-23 NBA season. It will be an all MVP-duel with 2022 Finals MVP Stephen Curry facing off against two-time MVP Nikola Jokic for the first time since the Dubs defeated Denver in the first round of the 2022 Playoffs (4-1). Jokic was named NBA MVP for the second year in a row after averaging 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists, shooting 58.3 percent from the field in 74 games played in the 2021-22 regular season. In the team’s offseason transactions, the Nuggets acquired 2020 NBA champion Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and guard Ish Smith.
Boston Celtics

Get your popcorn ready for a 2022 NBA Finals rematch as the Warriors face the Boston Celtics. While the Warriors beat Boston in the Finals in six games (4-2), the Celtics were the only team to hand the Dubs a defeat at Chase Center during the 2022 NBA Playoffs (11-1). Along with notable returners Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, the Celtics acquired guard Malcolm Brogdon and forward Danilo Gallinari in the offseason. Brogdon is a member of the 50-40-90 club, averaging 19.1 points and 5.9 assists in the 2021-22 season while Gallinari owns 14 years of NBA experience.
Memphis Grizzlies

It will be a Merry Grizzmas for the Dubs as they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Christmas Day, marking the first meeting between the two clubs since the gritty Western Conference Semifinals showdown. However, the rivalry between teams started way before the 2022 Playoffs, with the Grizzlies previously depriving the Dubs of a playoff berth in 2021. Then, in a 104-101 overtime defeat, the Grizzlies handed the Warriors their first loss of the 2021-22 season. The tension between the two teams were at all-time high by the time the Western Conference Semifinals series took place, with All-Star Ja Morant exiting Game 3 of the series due to a season-ending injury. Morant averaged 27.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.8 assists in nine games played in the 2022 postseason. In addition to their established core, the Memphis Grizzlies used the 2022 NBA Draft to add three new players to their roster: Walker Kessler (Auburn), TyTy Washington Jr. (Kentucky) and Vince Williams Jr. (VCU). The Warriors-Grizzlies duel will serve as the first-ever Christmas Day game in Grizzlies history and the holiday hoops showdown we’ve all been waiting for.
Atlanta Hawks

Last season, the Warriors and Atlanta Hawks split the regular season series 1-1, with Dubs guard Stephen Curry having one of his most productive games of the 2021-22 campaign, dropping 50 points, seven rebounds and ten assists while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from 3-point range. Entering the 2022-23 campaign, the Hawks have made a headlining off-season transaction by acquiring 2022 All-Star guard Dejonte Murray to pair with Atlanta guard Trae Young. The result could breed one of the most dynamic backcourts in the league.
Orlando Magic

Notable Additions: Paolo Banchero
Though the Orlando Magic are coming off the worst record in the East (22-60), the Magic are looking to turn things around after selecting Paolo Banchero with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Banchero is a product of Duke University and was named ACC Rookie of the Year, with the forward averaging 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds in 39 games played. Last season, the Dubs and Magic split the regular season series 1-1, with each squad winning on their home floor.
Phoenix Suns

It’s going to heat up as the Warriors and Suns face off in the 2022-23 campaign. Though Phoenix led with the best record in the West last season (64-18), the Suns were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in a seven-game Western Conference Semifinals series. Three-time NBA All-Star Devin Booker led the Suns in the postseason, averaging a team-high 23.3 points per game, while veteran point guard Chris Paul posted 17.5 points in 13 games played. Moreover, after spending four seasons with the Warriors, guard Damion Lee has made his way to the desert to play for Phoenix this upcoming season, adding additional heat to the Suns’ backcourt.
Dallas Mavericks

It will be a Western Conference Finals rematch as the Warriors and Dallas Mavericks meet in the 2022-23 campaign. And while the Dubs took the series (4-1) to advance to the NBA Finals, three-time All-Star Luka Doncic did not make it easy, posting 40-plus points in back-to-back games. Doncic led the Mavericks through postseason play, averaging 31.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 6.4 assists. Over the summer, Christian Wood was was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Mavericks, with the center averaging 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds in the 2021-22 regular season.
Minnesota Timberwolves

Notable Additions: Rudy Gobert
The Warriors are set to meet the Minnesota Timberwolves in the upcoming season. Though the two clubs did not meet in the 2022 postseason, the Dubs are 5-5 in the last ten games played against the Timberwolves. In one of the biggest offseason transactions, Minnesota traded four first-round picks for All-Star center Rudy Gobert. A three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Gobert will team up with notable returners Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell. With their sizable addition, the Timberwolves seek to be a playoff contending team for the second year in a row after falling to the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round.
Milwaukee Bucks

It will be a duel between the last two championship teams as the Dubs face off against the Milwaukee Bucks. And while Milwaukee made a push in the 2022 postseason despite Khris Middleton suffering a left knee injury in the first round, the Bucks were halted by the Boston Celtics in a seven-game Eastern Conference Semifinals series. Through the postseason, 2021 NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks averaging a playoff career-high 31.7 points per game, and he followed that up with a dominant stretch playing for the Greek National Team this summer. Moreover, with the No. 24 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Bucks selected NBA G League Ignite’s MarJon Beauchamp. With their new addition along with the return of a healthy Khris Middleton, there’s a lot of potential for the full-strength Bucks.
