An Avalanche of Splashes
With 7:59 remaining in the second quarter, Stephen Curry drove to the basket but saw all five Spurs defenders in or around the paint. The Spurs were determined to keep the Dubs from getting easy buckets inside, as the Warriors had missed their first 13 3-point attempts. So Curry swung the ball to Anthony Lamb on the right wing and curled around Jordan Poole to relocate. Poole found Curry, who nailed a contested three over Spurs' guard Devonte' Graham. Curry essentially opened up the floodgates for the Dubs, who would make 21 of their final 36 3-pointers (58.3 percent). The Warriors shot 42.9 percent from three for the game and made six more triples than the Spurs (21-15).

Curry Ends the 3-Point Drought

Jordan Poole Catches Fire in 2nd Quarter
The Warriors were down by four with less than four minutes remaining in the first half. With Curry on the bench and Thompson having made just one shot to that point, the Warriors needed an offensive spark. Poole delivered, scoring 12 of the Dubs' final 14 points to close the second quarter, including three 3-pointers, to give the Dubs a three-point lead going into the break.

“It’s been a really good stretch for him,” Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr said on Jordan Poole’s scoring in the recent weeks. “He’s had good stretches for us in the past, but he’s been very consistent in scoring the ball. He’s in a good groove offensively. Just seems to be in a good place. So yeah, Jordan’s playing well.”

Klay Thompson's 27 2nd-Half Points
After just four points on 1-for-5 shooting in the first half, Thompson responded with 27 points in the second half—tied for the second-most points he's scored in a half all season (tied with his 27 first-half points vs. the Thunder on Feb. 6 and behind his 33 first-half points vs. the Suns on March 13). The NBA leader in 3-pointers made added seven more triples on Friday, moving 11 threes ahead of second-place Buddy Hield (285-274).

“I just liked the way he stayed patient in the first half and didn't chase anything," Steve Kerr said about the tale of two halves for Klay Thompson. "The game didn't go his way, but he wasn't taking bad shots. I think he only got four shots up in the first half, but it was really important that he didn't chase anything and he stayed patient and then the game opened up in the second half."

Curry, Thompson and Poole Make History
Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole became the second trio in NBA history to have three players make at least 200 threes in a season, joining James Harden, Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson from the 2016-17 Houston Rockets. In addition, the Dubs have three players in the top 10 in 3-pointers made: Klay Thompson (1st; 285 3PM), Stephen Curry (3rd; 257 3PM) and Jordan Poole (10th; 205 3PM).

“It’s awesome,” Stephen Cury said when reflecting on the trio’s 3-point milestone. “We obviously shoot the ball at a high level and try to be efficient with it and do it in three kind of creative ways. It’s nice to accomplish feats that are rare in NBA history (three teammates making 200-plus threes in the same season). It’s special and obviously, JP (Jordan Poole) coming into his own as a great shooter and a balance in just scoring overall and also, stretching the defense out. It’s awesome.”
