Warriors Road Woes Continue in Loss to Lakers

Dubs Out-Ran and Out-Splashed in First Game Out of the Break

Klay Thompson led six Warriors players in double figures with 22 points, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with a fast-breaking Lakers Team in Thursday’s 124-111 loss in Los Angeles.

Despite shooting just 38 percent from the floor in the game, the Warriors were within one point early in the third quarter, but the Lakers rallied behind some hot-shooting from their supporting cast and had the advantage in transition all night long, outscoring the Warriors 29-8 in fastbreak points.

With the loss, the Warriors fall to 29-30 on the season, marking the first time they’re under .500 since Jan. 22.

SHOTS NOT FALLING
The Dubs attempted 19 more shots than the Lakers (105-86) yet made two fewer field goals (42-40). They also attempted 19 more 3-pointers (49-30) and again hit two fewer threes (16-14). Coming into Thursday’s game, the Lakers were the 27th-ranked shooting team in the league, but they shot a blistering 53.3 percent from distance. Malik Beasley, a recent trade deadline acquisition for the Lakers, knocked down seven threes in the game and paced Los Angeles with 25 points on a night that superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis score a combined 25 points on 8-for-25 shooting.

BEAST ON THE BOARDS
One of the bright spots for the Dubs was the play of Kevon Looney. He came off the bench and was very productive in his 20 minutes of action, finishing with 10 points and 15 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. It marked Looney’s third-straight double-double effort, marking the longest streak of his career, during which he’s averaging 11.3 points and 14.0 rebounds.

Golden State Warriors Top Dunks vs. Los Angeles Lakers

STRONG BENCH PERFORMANCE
The Lakers’ bench outscored the Warriors reserves 68-52. Austin Reaves shot 6-for-6 from the floor for 17 points, one of five Lakers reserves to score in double figures. But the highest-scoring reserve in the game was Warriors two-way player Ty Jerome, who had 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting in 30 minutes of game action.

LIMITING LEBRON AND AD
LeBron James was held below 20 points for the third time all season. James had scored 28 or more points in 37 consecutive games before scoring just 13 points on Thursday. Despite shooting 5-for-20 from the field, James did lead the game in assists and was a plus-22 in his 26 minutes. Anthony Davis attempted just five shots, hitting three for 12 points. However, Davis did grab nine rebounds and blocked two shots, affecting the game in other ways.
