Dubs Defeat Mavs For Third Straight Home Victory

The Golden State Warriors were able to withhold a late Dallas Mavericks run, defeating Dallas 119-113 at Chase Center on Saturday night.

The Warriors led by 18 points with 5:28 remaining in the game, but the Mavs stormed back, scoring 13 straight points and cutting the deficit to five with 1:28 to go. A Kevon Looney free throw with 1:00 left ended the run, and two Klay Thompson free throws put the final touches on the Dubs victory, their third consecutive win at Chase Center.

"I think we played three-and-a-half quarters of good basketball," Donte DiVincenzo said. "I think things started slipping away. We started going away from what got us the lead, but those last couple minutes we buckled down and we did what we needed to do.”

Stephen Curry scored a team-high 21 points, but exited the game in the third quarter due to a lower left leg injury. Draymond Green came up just shy of a triple-double, finishing the game with 17 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

The Dubs finished the first quarter with 40 points and their 68 percent shooting from the field was the team’s highest in the opening quarter since Nov. 27.

The Dubs’ offensive firepower continued into the second frame, as the team went into halftime with a 15-point lead. Golden State’s 73 first half points was their fourth most points in a half this season.

Kuminga's One-Hand Slam

Kuminga’s Slams, Plus History

Jonathan Kuminga (20 years, 121 days old) made Warrior history on Saturday. With his 13-point performance, he surpassed 1,000 career points and became the youngest player in franchise history to reach the milestone (prev. Joe Smith; 20 years, 236 days).

"He is a special talent," Draymond Green said of Kuminga postgame. "A very special talent. He is buying into the things that gets him on the floor. Once you get on the floor, you use what you got and I think that he is doing a really good job of that."

Kuminga once again showed he is one of the most athletic players in the league, throwing down two highlight-reel dunks and coming up with a spectacular block on Mavericks center Dwight Powell.

JaMychal Does it All

JaMychal Green made his first six field goals of the night en route to a 14-point performance. Green also added a season-high-tying two blocks and came up just one rebound short of his season-high, finishing a plus-9 in 16 minutes of action.

"I thought JaMychal was probably our player of the game in terms of what he provided in his minutes," Steve Kerr said postgame. "He was — just the toughness inside, the scoring. Made some big defensive plays."

Jerome, DiVincenzo Key Minutes

After Stephen Curry exited the game in the third quarter, the Warriors bench had to take on a bigger role to close out the game. Seven of Ty Jerome's 18 minutes came in the fourth quarter, and the two-way guard finished with six assists on the night. DiVincenzo also logged over seven minutes in the fourth quarter and was on the court to close out the game for the Dubs. DiVincenzo shot an efficient 5-for-7 from the field, recording 13 points.
