Warriors Hang On to Beat Bulls

The game had gotten away from the Warriors. All the momentum created by Jordan Poole’s brilliant 3-point shooting had dissipated, as Chicago had trimmed a 19-point Warriors lead midway through the third quarter down to one in the final minutes of the game, but Draymond Green delivered when the Dubs needed it most, hitting a 3-pointer to put the Dubs back up by four with two minutes left in what would become a 119-111 victory over the Bulls on Friday night at Chase Center.

That Green 3-pointer ended a scoreless stretch for the Dubs that went over three-and-a-half minutes, and it marked the beginning of a game-clinching 7-0 run, and the Warriors picked up their ninth straight home victory.

Jordan Poole provided plenty of theatrics with a game-high 30 points, Klay Thompson overcame a tough night from the perimeter and finished with 26 points and a season-high six assists, and both Green and Stephen Curry logged double-doubles in the first of three Warriors home games in a span of four days.

Golden State Warriors Highlights vs. Chicago Bulls

DRAYMOND TAKES OVER
Even before Green’s clutch 3-pointer, his fingerprints were all over the game. He finished one rebound short of his first triple-double of the season, and his 13 points and 10 assists marked his second double-double in the last three games. He was a game-best plus-20 in his 36 minutes of game action, and in the third quarter he was especially impactful, showing off his wide receiver skills when he hauled in a full-court pass from Stephen Curry.

POOLE PARTY
As the shot clock was winding down late in the third quarter, the ball found Jordan Poole at the logo on the floor inside half-court. Instead of driving toward the basket, the fourth-year guard launched – and knocked down – the deep three, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. To that point, it was that kind of night for Poole, who made seven 3-pointers in his third 30-point game of the season, this one coming in just 23 minutes of game action.

Coming off the bench in the first quarter, Poole helped the Warriors get out in front when he banked home his first 3-point attempt of the game. He’d go on to make two more threes in the next 80 seconds, and he’d make one more before ultimately ending the first quarter with 14 points.

CHICAGO THREATENS A COMEBACK
The Warriors outscored the Bulls in each of the first three quarters, but Chicago still found a way to make it interesting. Veteran point guard Goran Dragic hit two 3-pointers to ignite a 25-8 run over a seven-minute stretch of the fourth quarter. Zach LaVine’s 3-pointer to make it a one-point game capped the run, but the Dubs’ Green ended that momentum with his second 3-pointer of the game.

UP NEXT
With the win, the Warriors improved to 10-1 at home this season and 12-11 overall, and they’ll remain at home to host the Rockets on Saturday on the back end of a back-to-back.
