Shorthanded Dubs Fall to Pelicans

On the second night of a back-to-back, the Golden State Warriors lost 128-83 to the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center on Monday night.

Jordan Poole scored a team-high 26 points in the loss, with Jonathan Kuminga adding 18 points in his second start of the season.

Brandon Ingram recorded a game-high 34 points for the Pelicans as the Pels led by double digits for over 40 minutes on Monday.

Slow Start

Without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green, the Dubs struggled from the field to open the game. Through the first six and a half minutes of Monday's game, the Dubs shot 1-for-8 from the field and turned the ball over four times, resulting in an early 17-4 deficit. The Dubs trailed by as many as 24 points in the first quarter.

Baldwin's First Points

Warriors rookie Patrick Baldwin Jr. recorded his first career basket in the game. The rookie scored seven points and added six rebounds and a team-high three steals in 15 minutes of action.

Poole Leads Scoring

Jordan Poole recorded nine of the team's 16 points in the first quarter. Poole shot 3-for-5 from the field in the first frame, while the rest of the Dubs shot a combined 3-for-11. Poole added 11 more points in the second frame, scoring 20 of the Dubs 41 points in the first half. He finished the game with 26 points on 9-for-18 shooting in 27 minutes.

Looney Extends Streak

Kevon Looney was the only usual starter in the lineup on Monday, extending his streak of playing to 129 consecutive games, the second longest streak in the NBA. Including the playoffs, Looney has appeared in 151 consecutive contests. Looney played just shy of six minutes in the first quarter and never returned to the game.
