Game Preview: Warriors at Blazers - 4/9/23

Season Finale Has Big Playoff Implications

WIN AND YOU'RE IN
The stakes are simple for the Warriors on Sunday. If the Warriors defeat the Blazers, they will be guaranteed a top-six seed for the NBA Playoffs. However, if they lose, things become far more complicated. The Dubs can still finish anywhere from fifth place to eighth place, but losing Sunday's game takes control out of their hands. All Western Conference games begin at the same time, 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, so the Dubs will know where they stand fairly quickly after their game. Check out this Warriors Postseason Picture article for an in-depth breakdown of the Warriors' seeding possibilities.

LAST TIME OUT
Aided by their great defense, the Warriors reached double-digit road wins defeating the Sacramento Kings on Friday. The Warriors held the Kings to just 97 points, improving to 20-2 when keeping their opponent under 110. Their 22-point victory was also their third-largest road victory of the season, only behind a 31-point win at San Antonio on Jan. 31 and a 23-point win at Minnesota on Nov. 27. Klay Thompson (29) and Stephen Curry (25) combined for 54 points, while Kevon Looney grabbed 13 of his game-high 16 rebounds in the first half, the most in a half by a Warrior since David Lee in 2013.» Full Game Recap

DiVincenzo is shooting a career-best 39.7 percent from three on a career-high 5.3 attempts per game this season. He has also played in 71 games, the most he's played in any season thus far and started in nearly half of them (35 starts). PORTLAND SCOUTING REPORT
The Warriors completed their biggest comeback of the season against the Portland Trail Blazers on Feb. 28, but these teams will likely look very different on Sunday. For one, Stephen Curry didn't play in that game due to a left leg injury and Blazers' star guard Damian Lillard did, but he's been shut down for the season due to the Blazers being eliminated from playoff contention.

The Blazers have lost 14 of their last 16 games and most of their usual rotation players are no longer in the lineup. However, they did pull off one huge upset, which affected playoff seeding, beating the playoff-hopeful Minnesota Timberwolves 107-105 on April 2.
