Game Preview: Warriors vs. Rockets - 12/3/22

The Dubs look to extend their home winning streak to 10 games when they host the Houston Rockets on Saturday night at Chase Center. It will be the second of four meetings between the two teams this season. The Dubs have won seven consecutive games over the Rockets, most recently a 127-120 win in Houston on Nov. 20. Klay Thompson scored a season-high 41 points on 10 3-pointers in the game, the Dubs' first road win of the season.

Saturday will complete the Dubs fifth back-to-back set of the season. The Warriors are 1-3 on the second game of a back-to-back this season. The Dubs offense has struggled mightily in these games, averaging 108.5 points, 24.5 assists and 18.5 turnovers per game on no days rest compared to their season averages of 117.5 points, 29.7 assists and 17.1 turnovers per game. Klay Thompson has yet to play in the second night of a back-to-back and Stephen Curry, Draymond Green have missed two of the four games. Jordan Poole has made all four of his starts this season with Thompson out of the lineup and has recorded his three highest scoring totals of the season in these games, including a season-high 36 points against the San Antonio Spurs on Nov. 14.

HOUSTON SCOUTING REPORT
The Rockets are coming off their most gratifying win of the season after staging an impressive comeback in Friday's 122-121 victory in Phoenix. That was just their sixth win of the season, but three of those have come in their last five games. Second-year guard Jalen Green, the second pick of the 2021 NBA Draft, leads the Rockets' young core, and all second-year players, in scoring, averaging 21.7 points per game. Twenty-year-old Alperen Sengun leads all second-year players in rebounds, averaging 8.8 rebounds per game to go along with 15.4 points. Jabari Smith Jr., the third pick of the 2022 NBA Draft, ranks fourth in the NBA in points per game (11.9 PPG), second in rebounds per game (7.0 RPG) and third in blocks per game (1.0 BPG) amongst NBA rookies. Fellow 2022 first round pick Tari Eason leads all rookies in steals per game (1.4 SPG), while ranking fourth in rebounds per game (5.2 RPG) and ninth in points per game (8.2 PPG).
