Warriors Guard Stephen Curry Named 2023 NBA All-Star Starter

2022 All-Star Game MVP Will Make His Ninth Career All-Star Start

Four-time NBA Champion and two-time Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry has been named a starter in the 72nd NBA All-Star Game, the league announced today. Curry will make his ninth All-Star Game start, the most in franchise history, and trails only Paul Arizin (10 appearances) for most All-Star selections in Warriors history.

Curry is averaging 29.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.03 steals in 34.4 minutes over 33 games (all starts) this season. He was named the Week 4 Western Conference Player of the Week, his 19th career weekly honor, highlighted by a season-high 50 point performance at Phoenix on November 16. It marked his 11th career 50-point game, passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (10) and tying Allen Iverson (11) for the ninth-most 50-point games in NBA history. On December 6, he was honored as the 2022 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year, becoming the first individual player in Warriors franchise history to earn the prestigious honor, which Sports Illustrated has awarded annually since its inception in 1954.

Curry has taken part in NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in 10 of his previous 11 campaigns, averaging 22.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.38 steals and 28.2 minutes in his eight appearances in the All-Star Game (2014-19, 2021-22). He was named the 2022 All-Star Game Most Valuable Player after scoring a career-high 50 points including an All-Star record 16 three-point field goals, to go along with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 36 minutes during Team LeBron’s 163-160 victory over Team Durant.
