NOW WHAT?
Now that the Warriors have locked up homecourt advantage throughout the upcoming postseason, there isn’t any remaining competitive advantage that the Warriors can attain throughout the remainder of the regular season. That said, the elephant in the room continues to be the possibility of accumulating the most wins ever in a single season, so the question becomes, how will Golden State approach the remaining three games? The top priority heading into the playoffs is health, but the Warriors will also want to already be in a rhythm going into their first postseason game. They took one large step toward that state of rhythm with their sound victory over the Spurs on Thursday, and it will be interesting to see how the Warriors’ approach to the remaining regular season games - whatever that may be – has an effect on that, if at all.
MEMPHIS SCOUTING REPORT
The Grizzlies haven’t just had an injury bug this season; they’ve had an infestation. Countless rotation players have gone down for large portions of the season, and Memphis recently set a new NBA record by signing their 28th player to their roster this season to compensate for those losses. That said, at 42-36, the Grizzlies remain in the thick of the race for the final playoff spots in the West, and require no more than two more victories to secure one of them. The problem for Memphis is that all four of their remaining regular season games are against teams that already have or are close to clinching playoff berths of their own, including two matchups with Golden State. Losers of six of their last seven games, the Grizzlies will need to turn things around quickly, or they might find themselves on the outside looking in this postseason.
