Towns Wins NBAPA Best Rookie Award

Karl-Anthony Towns won the NBA Rookie of the Year unanimously after the 2015-16 season.

So, it probably would have been weird if the NBA Players Association didn’t give him that award too, right?

Well, we don’t have to worry about that. The NBAPA tweeted on Thursday that Towns had indeed won their Best Rookie Award.

During his rookie season, Towns averaged 18.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 54.2 percent from the field, 34.1 percent from the 3-point line and 81.1 percent from the free-thrown line.

“He gives that team an opportunity to win night in and night out,” Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul said. “The biggest thing rookies have a hard time with is being good on a consistent basis… Karl did a great job of that.”
