The Timberwolves announced Tuesday that the team has waived forward Eddie Griffin.
Griffin, a 6-10 forward, played in 13 games for Minnesota this season and averaged 1.4 points (.259 FG%) and 1.9 rebounds in 7.1 minutes. The five-year veteran has appeared in 303 NBA contests (117 starts) with Minnesota and Houston and has posted averages of 7.2 points (.377 FG%), 5.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots
in 22.2 minutes per game.
"It was time for both parties - Eddie and the Timberwolves - to move on," said Timberwolves Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale. "It just didn't work out for Eddie here in Minnesota. He will be a free agent next year and we do not have any future financial obligations regarding Eddie's contract."
A former first-round pick (7th overall) by the New Jersey Nets, Griffin originally signed as a free agent with the Timberwolves on Oct. 5, 2004. He re-signed with Minnesota on Aug. 22, 2005.
