MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL / PAISLEY PARK – CHANHASSEN — The Minnesota Timberwolves, in collaboration with the Prince Estate and Nike, today announced the return of the fan-favorite Prince-Inspired City Edition uniform as part of the NBA’s 2025 Nike City Edition Remix campaign. First introduced in 2018, and exclusively worn for the 2018-18 season, the purple-laced uniform quickly became the most beloved City Edition in Timberwolves history, celebrating the life, legacy, and unmistakable sound of Minnesota’s own Prince.

Back by overwhelming demand, this season's Prince-inspired uniform rollout comes with expanded celebrations from a custom-designed court featuring Prince’s iconic Love Symbol at center court, to in-arena musical performances by artists who worked closely with Prince himself, and more.

The uniform will make its 2025-26 season debut on Saturday, Nov. 15, when the Timberwolves host their first Prince-themed night at Target Center. The team is scheduled to wear the Prince-inspired uniform seven times at home — a number that holds symbolic meaning in Prince’s artistic legacy.

Retail availability will be announced in the coming weeks. Fans can learn and view more, and sign up to be notified when the City Edition collection drops at timberwolves.com/prince.

"Prince was a genius, an innovator, and a proud Minnesotan," said L. Londell McMillan, Prince’s longtime attorney and representative of the Prince Estate. “This collaboration with the Timberwolves not only honors his music, but his love for basketball, his hometown, and his commitment to creativity and community. Seeing this uniform return is a powerful reminder of his lasting influence on the Twin Cities and a connection to a new generation of fans.”

Matt Caldwell, CEO of the Timberwolves and Lynx, added: “Bringing this uniform back was an easy decision for our organization. This jersey is a celebration of who we are as a team, a city, and a culture. Prince was a huge Wolves and Lynx fan, and a symbol of excellence. We’re proud to honor his legacy in a way that brings fans together and lights up the season in purple.”

Originally unveiled at Paisley Park in 2018, the Prince uniform was developed in close collaboration with the Prince Estate and Nike. The design includes:

  • A paisley detail in the left short vent, nodding to Prince’s creative sanctuary, Paisley Park.
  • Faux studded pattern on the right shoulder that echoes the iconic jacket worn during his Purple Rain performance.
  • “MPLS” on the left leg to represent the Minneapolis Sound Prince pioneered.
  • Tonal purple Timberwolves logos on the leg and waistband, stylized “Wolves” chestmark inspired by Purple Rain, and custom number set that plays homage to his iconic Love Symbol.

In addition to the uniform, the Timberwolves will partner with Paisley Park Enterprises and the Prince Estate to activate Prince-themed nights throughout the season, impacting in-game music, lighting, visual content, merchandise, and charitable initiatives. The Timberwolves will also have two City Edition giveaways:

  • Naz Reid City Edition Youth Jersey (first 5,000 kids ages 12 and under) on Saturday, March 7 vs. Orlando
  • Anthony Edwards City Edition Bobblehead (all fans) on Saturday, March 28 vs. Detroit
