Towns Reaches 500 Block Milestone

Karl-Anthony Towns hit the 500-block milestone on Monday night against the Jazz in Utah.

Blocks are a weird stat. They don’t necessarily indicate that a player is a great defender, but Towns has shown a lot of growth on the defensive side of the ball throughout his career.

Towns is one of just 10 players to have 500 or more blocks since he entered the league in 2015. It's a pretty talented 10 player group.

The others are Rudy Gobert, Anthony Davis, Hassan Whiteside, Brook Lopez, DeAndre Jordan, Serge Ibaka, Myles Turner and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Towns already ranks second in team history in blocks. He has some work to do, though, to catch Kevin Garnett and his 1,590 blocks.

Towns has averaged 1.5 blocks per game throughout his career. Per math, that would take him 727 games to catch Garnett, or about nine seasons.
