Spurs Mailbag: Manu Ginobili - Part 2

Ariana
Location: Cleveland
Question: What do you do to unwind after a game?

MG: I play with my kids. It’s becoming easier, before it was much harder and took me hours to stop thinking. Now I just play with the kids and read a book. It’s way easier than when I was 25.

Manu Ginobili: It’s hard to tell how a player will develop in five years, but he has all of the weapons. He’s developing a better offensive game; he has the defense and rebounding. It just depends on how he works on his game in the off-season, but he can be an All-Star.

Question: How much do you practice in your shooting skills?

MG: Not much really. I have a few routines that I do, depending on how I feel I do more set shots or coming off screens. With a season like the NBA, we don’t have a lot of time. I’m not the type of player who will shoot 1000 shots; I prefer to shoot 200 in a game like situation and rest.

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam
Question: Hey Manu, What type of music do you listen to?

MG: I prefer Argentinian rock music. It’s something that keeps me close to my country, but I’m not a big music fan. I like listening to talk radio and the news. I’ve never had a great ear for music.

MG: The whole team, from management to coaching, teammates and the fans, you can't find anything better than this. I came to the states to play basketball, and I couldn’t have been luckier to land in this city.

Danie Steel
Location: Dunnville, Ont

Question: What has been your favorite thing about playing basketball with Tim Duncan?

MG: His reliability. You know what he’s going to give you, and he’s going to play every night. They’re going to have to guard him and he’s not going to take nights off. If he struggles, he’ll be in the gym working hard on his shot.

Hasiba
Location: San Antonio, TX
Question: Would you want your twins to be basketball players and/or would you recommend it for them?

MG: No, it would be better if they don’t. But I want them to be whatever they want to be.

Edgar Gonzalez
Location: Richmond VA
Question: Who is your favorite player to watch in the NBA when you're not playing?

MG: Kevin Durant is fun to watch, and so is Derrick Rose, and of course Kobe.

Greg
Location: London
Question: What's your favorite film & comedian?

MG: I love comedies. Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson and even Ben Stiller makes me laugh a lot. I like watching comedies and action.

Devin Jones
Location: Pullman, WA
Question: Who would win a shoot off between Matt and Gary?

MG: If it were wide open, I’d say Bonner, but if it were off balance I’d say Gary.

Adrienne
Virginia
Question: What do you like to do when you're not playing basketball?

MG: I like being with my kids or my computer. I like reading about technology and computers and how social media is evolving.

Guillaume Rouquier
Location: France
Question: Manu, what do you think of the comparisons between you and Nando De Colo? Are you going to be a kind of teacher to him?

MG: I can see we have stuff in common. We always say comparisons are not fun for anyone, but I can see what we have in common. I think when the season develops we’ll be able to talk more and learn more about each other.
