Know Your Pelicans: Unintentional comic

Fourth-year forward Naji Marshall is often funny even when he's not trying to be

We all have a hilarious friend, someone who goes out of their way to keep everyone laughing 24 hours a day. But some people are funny even when they aren’t trying to be, whether it’s due to goofiness, obliviousness or some other endearing trait. In this edition of Know Your Pelicans, we asked New Orleans players a simple question: Who’s your most unintentionally-funny Pelicans teammate? A fourth-year forward emerged as the only roster member to receive multiple mentions. Here are all of the responses:

Dyson Daniels: “Intentionally, it’s Jose. Unintentionally, it’s probably Dereon. He’s a funny guy. He doesn’t try to be, but he is.”

Jordan Hawkins: “Jose is pretty funny.”

Brandon Ingram: “Maybe Naji. He’s very funny.”

Herb Jones: “I think it might be me. Nah, I’ll give it to Naji Marshall.”

E.J. Liddell: “I’d have to say Dyson. His (Australian) accent is pretty funny. I picked up on (Daniels using) the word ‘mate’, so that’s what I’ve been calling him.”

Naji Marshall: “E.J. Liddell. He just makes me laugh.”

Trey Murphy: “Me.”

TOTAL “VOTES”: Naji Marshall 2, Jose Alvarado 1, Dyson Daniels 1, E.J. Liddell 1, Trey Murphy 1, Dereon Seabron 1.
