#4 Trading Penny Hardaway to the Suns (August, 1999)

It was sad to see Penny go, but the reality was that Hardaway’s best playing days were behind him and keeping him around with a big contract would have been disastrous. While the Magic didn’t obtain an emerging or established star in return (Pat Garrity, Danny Manning and draft picks), the deal did allow them to save money for the following summer when they signed Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill.
