Sacramento has won the No. 1 overall selection only once in its 20 appearances in the NBA Draft Lottery.

The team’s 2016 NBA Draft positioning will be determined during Tuesday’s Draft Lottery, as Willie Cauley-Stein will be representing the squad in New York to receive news of the Kings place in the draft.

While the team has just a 1.9 percent chance at landing the No. 1 overall pick, two teams in the Association have won the Lottery with similar percentages in the past decade. In 2014, Cleveland selected number one with a 1.7 percent chance with Chicago also receiving a top pick in 2008 with the same odds.

With the team having a 6.8 chance at receiving a top three selection, the Philadelphia 76ers have the ability to swap selections with the Kings should Sactown leapfrog Philly in the Lottery. Philadelphia has a 64.3 percent chance at a top three overall pick, meaning if the Kings land the No. 1 selection, the team’s pick will be conveyed to the Sixers while Sacramento would receive Philadelphia's placement.

Additionally, if Sacramento falls the maximum three spots to No. 11, the pick would be conveyed to Chicago and the Kings would not hold a first round pick in the 2016 NBA Draft for the first time since 2003.

The Kings hold a 6.8 percent chance of moving into the top three in Tuesday’s NBA Draft Lottery, which will be broadcast live beginning at 5 p.m. PDT on ESPN.

Since arriving in Sacramento in 1985, the Kings have selected in the top three on only two occasions, picking Pervis Ellison No. 1 overall in 1989, and in 1991, choosing Syracuse small forward Billy Owens third overall.

Along with capturing the top pick in 1989, it still remains the only summer in which the team moved up in the Draft Lottery. In all, Sacramento has maintained its Draft position nine times, while it has dropped one spot five times and two spots three times. Additionally, the Kings have twice fallen the maximum three spots.

The place in which the Kings have traditionally landed – a total of six times – is the No. 7 pick, including three years ago, when the team selected Kansas shooting guard Ben McLemore.

The Kings have only picked at two other spots more than once – twice choosing fifth and three times at sixth.

Last year, the Kings stayed at the No. 6 pick and chose Kentucky forward Willie Cauley-Stein, who will represent the team at this year's lottery.

In 2016, the Kings have a 72.4 percent chance of remaining in the eighth spot, the highest probability for picks one through 11, with the No. 11 pick coming in at a 0.001 percent chance.
