Today, the Sacramento Kings announced their second release of Laidback Lions Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), presented by Ankr, a leader in web3 infrastructure. Eighty unique Laidback Lions depicting the team’s mascot Slamson will be included in the mint set to begin on August 31 on Magic Eden. 

“Based on the tremendous response to the first release of the Laidback&nbsp;Lions, we are thrilled to expand our collection of NFTs and welcome new owners to The Jungle community,” said Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “We are continually focused on creating new and engaging experiences for&nbsp;the best fans in the world and we are excited to offer this unique opportunity.”

This announcement builds off the team’s&nbsp;genesis Laidback Lion launch&nbsp;in December 2021 and will allow owners the opportunity to unlock membership in “The Jungle” with invitations to private events, including a pregame event with Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé and tickets to a Kings game. Members of The Jungle have previously participated in a&nbsp;similar event&nbsp;during the 2021-22 season. Members will also receive an exclusive&nbsp;Jungle hoodie. During the upcoming season, members will be invited to a private pick-up basketball game on the Kings court in Golden 1 Center.

Seventy-nine of the new Laidback Lions will be available for approximately $500 and one rare gold Laidback Lion will be auctioned at a starting price of approximately $5,000. In addition to the benefits that come with being a member of The Jungle, the owner of the rare Laidback Lion will also have access to a VIP road trip experience with the Kings during the 2022-23 season, including roundtrip domestic flights, hotel and game tickets for themselves and a guest. Today, the Sacramento Kings, in collaboration with blanksoles, introduce “Laidback Lions” -- their newest iteration of limited Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).  Twenty unique Laidback Lions will be included in the genesis mint, which is set to take place today at 2 p.m. PT. 

“We remain committed to enhancing the way in which we engage with our worldwide fanbase,” said Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “As the metaverse becomes a reality, we are excited to provide fans exclusive activations that have never been possible before.”  

Laidback Lion tokens unlock membership in “The Jungle,” which includes experiences in both the physical and virtual world. Members will enjoy priority to special experiences, which may include access to Kings and Golden 1 Center events, exclusive gear and more.   

Owners of genesis Laidback Lions will receive a member-exclusive hoodie and two premium seats to a Kings home game during the 2021-22 season, with food and drinks included.  In addition, members will have the opportunity to join Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé for a pregame event this season and access to a private pick-up basketball game on the Sacramento Kings court in Golden 1 Center.

Sacramento Kings Launch Laidback Lions Limited NFT Collection

Today, the Sacramento Kings announced the franchise’s first-ever digitally designed Non-Fungible Token (NFT) depicting the 1985 commemorative pin given out in the inaugural season of the Kings in Sacramento and an industry first combination of the digital nature of NFT's, ownership, and representation in the real world.

“This NFT blends the digital and real world, signifying an iconic and memorable moment in our franchise’s history,” said Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “This digital representation of our past connects to our proud future and provides the ultimate fan an extraordinary opportunity to unlock unique features and leave a mark on Golden 1 Center.”

Using the OpenSea platform and working with Manifold, the team is launching 85 NFTs portraying the 1985 inaugural season pin. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on one innovative and rare NFT that will feature the inaugural season pin and an on-chain customizable jersey banner.  The winner and ultimate owner of this NFT can customize the name and number on the banner. This customization will be updated on the NFT itself, as well as on the Kings website and inside Golden 1 Center. The auction winner will also receive a physical replica of the 1985 season pin and a pair of tickets to the 2021-22 Opening Night game in the first three rows. This NFT will be auctioned starting on July 22 and will close on July 26. 

An additional 84 NFTs portraying the 1985 inaugural season pin will also be available for purchase. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase 84 of the NFTs and will receive a physical replica of the 1985 season pin and a pair of Lower-Level tickets to the 2021-22 Opening Night game.
