With the latest installment of the NBA 2K video game franchise just a few weeks away, a new addition has been introduced that will now feature an “All-Time” team for each NBA franchise.

These All-Time teams will boast some of the best and most memorable talent to suit up for the respective franchises throughout the history of the League.

Sacramento’s roster includes a wealth of legendary Kings talent, each assigned their own overall ratings by the team at NBA 2K. Based on these ratings, Dime Magazine ranked each squad on average overall rating.

The Kings team ranked in a tie for 8th place, with author Robby Kalland noting “I love this team. One of the most fun of all of them, and also really good on paper too.”

While these initial rankings are based solely on the numbers, Kalland has vowed to release a follow up piece that will rate each team based on who will be “the most fun to play with”.

There are many Sacramento fans who share fond memories of one of the most beloved squads in franchise history and now those memories can be relived on the virtual hardwood.

NBA 2K announced on Twitter this Thursday that the 2001-02 Kings will be featured as one of 16 classic teams in the newest edition of the game releasing in September. This will be the first time this squad has appeared as a classic team since NBA 2K13.

There will be one noticeable difference this time around, however, as Sactown legend Chris Webber will be on the roster.

No. 4 took to Twitter to share his excitement for being featured in 2K18, as well.

With the newest edition of the NBA 2K video game franchise set to release in the coming weeks, a trailer has surfaced hyping up the latest game.

In the video, fans are able to catch glimpses at new players and uniforms that will be featured in-game this year, including a brief look at Kings rookie De’Aaron Fox driving past former Kentucky teammate and now Charlotte Hornets guard Malik Monk.

The “Prelude” of NBA 2K18 is tabbed for a September 8 release to give gamers their first taste of the game with the full version dropping on September 19.

Today, the NBA 2K esports league announced that the Sacramento Kings will join 16 other National Basketball Association (NBA) teams to participate in its inaugural season, set to debut in 2018.

To celebrate the announcement, the Sacramento Kings hosted a special event at Golden 1 Center to showcase NBA 2K on the association’s largest and only 4K Ultra HD videoboard.

“Utilizing technology to grow the game of basketball is core to our organizational mission,” said Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “We’re excited to join the league from the beginning, work with the NBA to reach new audiences around the globe and provide our voice to the conversation about the future of sports.”

“These teams have expressed a tremendous level of enthusiasm around esports and the potential for our new league,” said NBA 2K esports league Managing Director Brendan Donohue. “We’re looking forward to forming something truly unique that can engage existing basketball and gaming fans, while creating a new generation of avidity for the game.”

In February 2017, the NBA and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO) announced plans to launch a new, professional competitive gaming league that will bring together the best basketball gamers in the world.
