-- Earns third career Player of the Week award and first with Sacramento --

Sacramento Kings forward-center Domantas Sabonis has been named Western Conference Player of the Week after leading the Kings to a perfect 4-0 record for games played between January 9 and January 15, the NBA announced today. Sabonis averaged 18.5 points (51.9 FG%, 76.0 FT%), 14.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists throughout the week.

Sabonis earns the third Player of the Week honor of his career after becoming the third NBA player this season to average a triple-double over a four-game stretch. Throughout the week, Sabonis ranked second in rebounds per game, fifth in assists per game and second in both total rebounds (57) and assists (41). He posted a double-double in all four games, extending his current double-double streak to 20 games, which is the longest in the NBA this season.

During Wednesday night’s win over the Houston Rockets, Sabonis finished with 25 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists for a near triple-double. In Friday’s victory vs. Houston, Sabonis notched a triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, a career-high 16 assists, two steals and two blocks, marking his fourth triple-double of the season. Since 1973-74, Sabonis is just the second player in NBA history with 15 points, 15 rebounds, 15 assists and a pair of steals and blocks in a game, joining Larry Bird with the honor.

In his seventh season in the NBA, Sabonis is averaging 18.9 points (61.0 FG%, 38.0 3pt%, 74.9 FT%), 12.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 34.3 minutes per game in 41 games (41 starts). He is currently on pace to become the fourth player in NBA history to average at least 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists. Among league leaders, Sabonis ranks first in double-doubles (33), tied for third in triple-doubles, first in rebounds, 11th in assists per game, ninth in field goal percentage and third in win shares (7.1).
