Coby White named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

The NBA announced today that Chicago Bulls guard Coby White was selected as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from March 17 to March 23, marking White’s second consecutive weekly honor. White is the second Bulls player, along with Michael Jordan, to win two-straight Player of the Week laurels.

White becomes the first Eastern Conference player to repeat since Joel Embiid in 2022-23 and is the second NBA player to earn consecutive weekly awards this season (Domantas Sabonis). In Bulls history, only Michael Jordan has accomplished this feat, doing so during the weeks of March 21-27 and March 28-April 3 in 1987-88 and again for March 20-26 and March 27-April 2 in 1989-89.

White guided the Bulls to a 3-1 record during games played from March 17 to March 23, ranking fourth in the NBA in scoring (30.3 ppg) throughout the week. He was the only NBA guard to average at least 30.0 points while shooting .500 or better from the field. White extended his career-long 20-point scoring streak to 12-straight games (2/28-3/22), becoming one of nine Bulls players to ever record as long of a streak.

During the week, White opened with 26 points, three rebounds and four assists in a win at the Utah Jazz (3/17), followed by 24 points, six rebounds and five assists at the Phoenix Suns (3/19). The University of North Carolina product then rattled off consecutive 30-point performances in wins on the road over the Sacramento Kings (3/20) and Los Angeles Lakers (3/22), marking the second time in his career he has tallied back-to-back games with 30-plus points and the first since 2019-20. He finished with 35 points (career-high 13-14 FT) and five assists against the Kings, before scoring 36 points (12-17 FG, 6-9 3FG) versus the Lakers. White shot .556 from the floor, .394 from distance and .848 from the free-throw line on the week.

The sixth-year Bulls guard set a career high for scoring in a half with 31 points (9-12 FG, 2-3 3FG, 11-12 FT) in the second half at Sacramento and scored 10-plus points in six quarters over the four games. Over his last 10 games (3/4-3/22), he has recorded the most points (294), free throws made (62) and free throws attempted (70) in a 10-game span during his career. White (960 3FGM) also eclipsed 950 career three-pointers this week, ranking third in franchise history for career three-pointers made while becoming the 13th player in NBA history to reach that mark at age 25 or younger.

White is averaging a career-best 20.0 points per game this season on .441 shooting from the field, .362 from three-point range and .898 from the charity stripe, along with 3.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in a team-high 33.2 minutes through 64 games (63 starts). He has already set single-season career bests for free throws made (221) and steals (61). White (191 3FGM) ranks 16th in the NBA in three-pointers made in 2024-25 and has totaled 1,282 points, 228 rebounds and 284 assists on the season, making him one of seven players in the Eastern Conference to reach such minimums this season (Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Tyler Herro, Cade Cunningham).

White (2x) joins DeMar DeRozan (4x), Jimmy Butler (4x), Derrick Rose (5x), Ben Gordon (4x), Michael Jordan (23x), Scottie Pippen (5x) and Artis Gilmore (2x) as the only players in Bulls history to be named Player of the Week at least twice in their career.
