KARE 11 to broadcast five Wolves games this season as team returns to over-the-air television for first time since 2012
Broadcasts will be available for an estimated 1.5 million homes across Minneapolis/St. Paul and the region
MINNEAPOLIS and ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Timberwolves, KARE 11, TEGNA’s NBC affiliate serving the Twin Cities, and FanDuel Sports Network are partnering to simulcast five home games this season giving fans a variety of options to watch Timberwolves basketball. This marks the first time the Timberwolves have aired on local, free over-the-air television since 2012 and the first time on KARE 11’s airwaves since a nine-year run from 1992-93 through 2000-01. Timberwolves fans can watch KARE 11 over-the-air on channel 11, Comcast digital, DIRECTV, Dish Network, YouTube TV, and AT&T U-Verse channels.
These games are made available for local over-the-air distribution as part of the NBA’s agreement with Diamond Sports Group, the owner of FanDuel Sports Network North. KARE 11 will simulcast FanDuel Sports Network’s production of the games, including “Wolves Live” before and after every game, which is hosted by Marney Gellner and features analysis from current Minnesota Lynx assistant coach Rebekkah Brunson and Kevin Lynch. Game action will continue to be called by Timberwolves play-by-play announcer Michael Grady and color analyst Jim Petersen.
