Peter J. Holt becomes the third member of the Holt family to serve as Chairman of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, continuing the Holts’ 23-year leadership of the organization. He succeeds Julianna Hawn Holt, who held the position of Chairwoman and Co-CEO for three years, after taking over for Peter M. Holt, who led the Spurs ownership group for 20 years. 

Under the Holt family’s leadership, the Spurs have become one of the premier franchises in North American sports, capturing five NBA titles (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014) while qualifying for the NBA Playoffs for 22 straight seasons. The Holts joined the ownership group of San Antonio Spurs, LLC in 1996. 

Spurs Sports & Entertainment owns four professional sports franchises – the San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio FC (USL Championship), and the Austin Spurs (NBA G League). In addition, SS&E manages the day-to-day operations of the AT&T Center and Toyota Field. Under the Holts’ watch, the organization has grown to over 400 full-time and nearly 800 part-time employees. 

Holt is the great-great-grandson of Benjamin Holt, who introduced the first practical track-type tractor in 1904 and is a founder of Caterpillar®, Inc. Holt and his sister, Corinna Holt Richter, have owned and managed HOLT CAT since 2017. Now the largest Caterpillar dealer in the country, with over 2,700 employees and more than 50 locations throughout Texas, HOLT CAT is a fifth-generation family-owned business headquartered in Southeast San Antonio. Holt serves as CEO and General Manager of HOLT CAT. 

Holt is passionate and focused on improvement in youth opportunities expressed by his involvement on the Board of SA Works and the University of the Incarnate Word. He participates on the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County Executive Committee and is actively involved in United Way fundraising activities. He is also committed to wildlife conservation efforts and serves on the Executive Committee of the Texas Wildlife Association. 

Holt graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He resides in San Antonio with his wife, Lauren Kate, and their daughters, Hazel, Penny, and Tippit.
