Silver & Black Give Back, is a 501(c)(3) public charity. The charity was originally created in 1988, when there was only one team in the SS&E family and has historically been known as the Spurs Foundation. Today, Silver & Black Give Back supports youth sports and education based service programs throughout San Antonio and South Texas. Its two premiere initiatives are the Team Up Challenge and youth sports programs.

Team Up Challenge is a service-based learning program that awards funding and incentives to classrooms, clubs and teams for their commitment to improving our community. The program tipped-off in October, and will run throughout the 2010-11 school year with 20 classes awarded $2,500 in seed funding to complete their project. At the end of the school year, five of the 20 classes will be awarded a grant of $20,000 for their community projects.

Youth sports programs, such as the Spurs Youth Basketball League, presented by Pizza Hut and Valero, was developed by Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich and Kids Sports Network founder Frank Martin in 1990. The league is in its 21st year, and has grown to annually include more than 20,000 South Texas youth in a positive basketball experience.
