The NBA announced earlier this afternoon that Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played between Dec. 22-27.

Ingram became the first player in Pelicans history to post at least 80 points, 20 rebounds and 20 assists through the team’s first three games of the year, and helped lead New Orleans to a 2-1 record to open the NBA season behind averages of 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.0 steals. The reigning Most Improved Player finished the week one of just four players in the NBA to be averaging at least 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and was also one of just four players to average at least 26 points while shooting at least .440 from the field, .470 from three-point range and .820 from the free throw line.

Ingram’s Player of the Week honors is the second of his career, after earning the award the first time last season, and is the third player in team history to win the award multiple times, joining Chris Paul (eight) and Anthony Davis (five).

NEW ORLEANS – The NBA announced earlier today that Anthony Davis was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Feb. 26-Mar. 4.

Davis led the Pelicans to a 3-0 week behind averages of 34.0 points (ranked first in the NBA) while shooting .507 from the floor, and .872 from the free throw line, 15.3 rebounds (ranked third in the NBA and second in the Western Conference) and 2.7 blocks (ranked third in the NBA). Additionally, Davis was the only player to average at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in the NBA over the course of the week. Davis helped propel New Orleans to two comeback wins against Phoenix (17-point comeback) and San Antonio (15-point comeback) and recorded a season-high 53 points in the Pelicans’ win on Feb. 26 versus the Suns. The reigning KIA Western Conference Player of the Month became the first player in NBA history to register at least 53 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks in a game, while setting new franchise records for free throws made an attempted, going 21-of-26 at the line.

This marks the fourth time Davis has earned Player of the Week honors during his career, and the second time during the 2017-18 season, becoming the first player in franchise history to earn multiple Player of the Week honors in the same season since Chris Paul in 2008-09.

Davis is currently averaging 28.0 points (ranked second in the NBA) on .536 shooting from the floor (ranked 15th in the NBA), 11.1 rebounds (ranked eighth in the NBA) and 2.2 blocks (ranked second in the NBA) on the season for the Pelicans.

Western Conference Player of the Week: DeMarcus Cousins

NEW ORLEANS – The NBA announced earlier today that Pelicans forward DeMarcus Cousins has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Oct. 23-29. This is the sixth time Cousins has earned Player of the Week honors, and the first time as a member of the Pelicans.

Cousins led the Pelicans to a 2-1 record while averaging 36.3 points on .544 shooting from the floor, 16.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks. Below is a breakdown of Cousins’ performances during the week:

• 39 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steal in a 103-93 loss at POR 10/24  | WATCH
• 41 points, 23 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block and 1 steal in a 114-106 win at SAC 10/26  | WATCH
• 29 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 3 steals in a 123-101 win vs. CLE 10/28  | WATCH

Cousins became the first player since Chris Webber (1/5/01) to have a game with 40 points, 20 rebounds and five assists, the first player since Bob McAdoo with 40 points on .500 shooting to go along with 20 rebounds and six assists, and the first player since Joe Barry Carrol (2/1/87) to have at least 41 points, 23 rebounds and six assists in a game. Additionally, Cousins became the fourth player in NBA history to score at least 35 points in each of his first two games against his former club, and the third player to have a 40-point, 20-rebound performance in a game against his former team, joining Wilt Chamberlain and Moses Malone.

With his performance on 10/28 vs. CLE, Cousins became the ninth player in franchise history to record a triple-double, the seventh of his career. Furthermore, Cousins became the fourth player in NBA history to follow-up a 40-point, 20-rebound performance with a triple-double, joining Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson and Elgin Baylor.

Cousins is currently averaging 32.3 points (2nd in the NBA) on .504 shooting from the field, 13.8 rebounds (ranked 6th in the NBA) and 2.3 blocks (ranked 3rd in NBA) to go with 5.7 assists.

Pelicans forward DeMarcus Cousins named Western Conference Player of the Week
