New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday has recently referred to himself as one of the “Soccer Wives,” a group that consists of husbands of USA women’s national team players. As one of the American team’s biggest supporters, the point guard had major reason to celebrate Sunday, as wife Lauren Holiday and Team USA won the gold medal of the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Vancouver, B.C.
Lauren scored one of the United States’ goals during a thrilling, first-half scoring barrage that resulted in a 5-2 victory over Japan. It clinched America’s first World Cup crown in women’s competition since 1999.
