New Orleans Pelicans vs. Brooklyn Nets Postgame Quotes | 1/6/23

Willie Green recaps loss to Brooklyn | Pelicans vs. Nets Postgame Interview 1/6/23

Pelicans Head Coach Willie Green

On the second half offense:

“You know you give credit to them. They came out in the second half they picked it up made more shots and got a bit more physical with us. I thought it affected our force and our pace in the second half.”

On Naji Marshall’s performance:

“Naji (Marshall), he was great. He guarded, he attacked early and made shots. All the things that he’s been working on and the things that we talked about even before the game started. We just came up short.”

Jose Alvarado | Pelicans vs. Nets Postgame Interview 1/6/23

Pelicans Guard Jose Alvarado

On their performance tonight:

“We came in here and tried to compete to win this game. Obviously, we are down a few players and want them back. It would have been a different ballgame with them there. We are trying to lock in and stay in the game to compete. We had a chance to win the game but certain things didn't go our way. We want to go out there and win the game.”

On the importance of the upcoming road trip:

“It is going to be extremely important. Obviously, this is a big time loss and we need to protect our home. We believe in ourselves and we believe in this team. We are going to have to compete and it's going to be tough. It is a chance to win big time games with guys out. We have to step up and win. It's going to be a tough road trip but we have to get wins.”

Pelicans Forward Larry Nance Jr.

On playing without Brandon Ingram or Zion Williamson:

“Play with more force and pace. I thought Jose (Alvarado) did that in the first half by getting the ball out and pushing the ball by passing, dribbling, screens and slipping out. Second half we started to slow down and play at their pace. That is not beneficial for us with the current roster.”

On Zion Williamson being out a few weeks:

“Obviously playing without Z (Zion Williamson) is tough, as he was our entire offense for a little while. It's going to take a little time to adjust. Let’s not forget that is the hottest team in the NBA and we are missing two all-stars. There are no moral victories in the NBA but in all realities, we shouldn't be able to win. The group feels alright tonight and we will be ready for the next one.
