Five things to know about the Pelicans on Oct. 5

1) After one of the busiest offseasons an NBA team can have, the New Orleans Pelicans finally get a chance to step onto the hardwood in a game Saturday night, facing the Houston Rockets at 7 p.m. in the Toyota Center. Tune in to the Pelicans Radio Network to follow the preseason action on WWL-FM 105.3 at 7, with studio host Daniel Sallerson taking you up to tip-off. We’ll also be tweeting updates from Houston, so be sure to follow our official account @PelicansNBA, writer @Jim_Eichenhofer and Pelicans radio play-by-play broadcaster @SeanKelleyLive. For New Orleanians now living in the Houston area or visiting this weekend, the Rockets are televising the game locally. However, preseason games are not available nationally via NBA League Pass.

2) As has been the custom in recent seasons, we should know the Pelicans’ official starting lineup no later than an hour or two before tip-off. Monty Williams is scheduled to speak to the media in the 5 o’clock hour.

3) Check out an overview of the Pelicans’ eight-game preseason schedule, which features games in eight cities and six states.

4) Jrue Holiday was a guest on the Black & Blue Report on Friday. Listen to Holiday's visit here. In case you missed Thursday’s show, Jason Smith stopped by to talk about the upcoming season.

5) Read more on the start of Jeff Withey’s pro career, which begins tonight in Houston.
