The Philadelphia 76ers have seen some of the best players in NBA history play for the franchise. Let’s highlight their top five all-time leaders in rebounds.
1. Dolph Schayes, 1950-64(11,256 rebounds)
The 76ers franchise was originally the Syracuse Nationals. Schayes spent 14 seasons with the Nationals before playing one season with the 76ers. In the 1950-51 season, he led the league by averaging 16.4 rebounds per game. He had a streak of 11 straight seasons in which he averaged at least 12 rebounds per game. Across 996 games with the franchise, Schayes logged 12.1 rpg.
2. Red Kerr, 1955-65 (9,506 rebounds)
Like Schayes, Kerr played with both the Nationals and 76ers. He averaged 6.6 rebounds during his rookie season. From 1956-64, Kerr had a streak of eight straight seasons in which he averaged at least 11.2 rebounds per game. Over 834 career games with the franchise, Kerr posted 11.4 rpg.
3. Charles Barkley, 1985-92 (7,079 rebounds)
The 76ers selected Barkley with the fifth pick in the 1984 Draft. He spent the first eight seasons of his career with the franchise, making six All-Star teams along the way. He also finished inside the top five in MVP voting three times. He led the league with 14.6 rpg during the 1986-87 season and averaged at least 10 rebounds in every season of his career after his rookie campaign. In 610 career games with the 76ers, Barkley posted 11.6 rpg.
4. Billy Cunningham, 1966-72, 1975-76 (6,638 rebounds)
Cunningham began his career in the NBA after being selected seventh overall by the 76ers in the 1965 Draft. He averaged 14.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a rookie. Over 654 career games with the 76ers, Cunningham averaged 10.1 rebounds.
5. Wilt Chamberlain, 1965-68 (6,632 rebounds)
Chamberlain landed with the 76ers during the 1964-65 season. He then played three full seasons with the franchise, winning the MVP each time. He also led the league in rebounding in each of those seasons. His best mark came when he averaged 24.6 rpg during the 1965-66 season. Despite appearing in just 277 games for the 76ers franchise, Chamberlain ranks fifth on this list with 23.9 rpg.
