Horace Grant (1965)

Grant’s tenacity earned him nicknames such as “The General” and “The Enforcer” during his stellar NBA career. It all started when Grant was selected 10th overall in the 1987 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. That proved to be an ideal landing spot because Grant helped spark the Bulls dynasty with three titles in his seven seasons in Chicago. It’s the defense that allowed him to thrive next to Michael Jordan, making Second-Team All-Defensive in his final two years with the Bulls and making his sole All-Star appearance in his final season there in 1993-94.

Grant joined the Orlando Magic in 1994, earning Second-Team All-Defense in his first two years with the Magic. He followed that up with Defensive Player of the Year votes in 1996, 1997 and 1998, and this defensive stalwart secured one more title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001. Grant averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks throughout his 17-year career. The signature specs and elite defense make Grant one of the most beloved players in Chicago and Orlando franchise history.
