The Washington Wizards defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 93-83 in the MGM Resorts Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Sunday.

While Milwaukee began the game with a 25 to 18 first-quarter advantage, Washington responded with a 26-13 second quarter to take control heading into the break. From there, the Wizards never relinquished the lead, which it would push to double-digits by the end of the third.

Washington outscored Milwaukee 16-8 in fast-break points, while out-dueling the Bucks in second-chance points, 13-6. The Wizards drained 12 of their 37 3-point attempts, while Milwaukee hit just 7-of-26 tries from deep. The Bucks also had 10 players contribute to their 19 turnovers — seven of which were charged to second-year forward Jordan Nwora.

Mamadi Diakite led the Bucks with 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals. Nwora matched those 18 points, adding three rebounds and three steals to his tally. Second-round pick Sandro Mamukelashvili racked up 11 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Corey Kispert, the 15th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, led the Wizards with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to go with three rebounds and two blocks. Caleb Homesley totaled 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Mason Jones led the bench with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Both teams play again Monday, with Washington facing the Pacers and Milwaukee matching up against the Nuggets.
