ORLANDO – For an Orlando Magic team already dealing with their share of injuries, another difficult blow was handed down on Thursday morning.

Following the Magic’s road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando guard Cole Anthony underwent imaging, which confirmed a right internal oblique muscle injury.

Anthony’s return to play will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation and treatment.

After missing the team’s opener with an illness, the third-year guard has put together a solid campaign. Anthony is averaging 15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists through four games this season.

His injury unfortunately comes at a time when Orlando is already down a number of its backcourt members. Markelle Fultz (fractured big left toe), Gary Harris (left knee injury recovery), and Jalen Suggs (sprained right ankle) are all currently out and at various stages of their rehab.

Additional ballhandling duties will likely be placed into the hands of point-forwards Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero as well as guard R.J. Hampton.

The Magic return to action on Friday when they host the Charlotte Hornets at 7 p.m. ET.
