1 / 12OrlandoMagic.com’s Josh Cohen ranks the best centers in the NBA as of December 31, 2016. Click through this gallery for full rankings. Honorable Mentions: Myles Turner – He’s having a very good sophomore season. You just wonder sometimes if he’d be more effective playing power forward. DeAndre Jordan - He's still an excellent rebounder and he's significantly improved from the FT line. However, his defensive impact has been substandard and he's still limited offensively. Al Horford – He’s shooting under 50 percent from the field for the first time since his rookie year and he’s averaging a career low in rebounds. He is averaging a career best in assists, though. Marcin Gortat – He’s averaging a career high in rebounds and his shooting percentage is at a career best. Jonas Valanciunas – Playing with DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry makes it tough for him to get up enough shots. But, across the board he’s an imposing force down low. Steven Adams – He does all the dirty work and frequently outhustles his opponents. He’s an improved scorer and more reliable at the free throw line. Nikola Jokic – He has been spectacular over the past two weeks (four games with 24 points or more). He is shooting 68 percent from the field in December. Bismack Biyombo – He is a tenacious and versatile defender. He’s supreme protecting the rim and he can switch on pretty much any opponent because of his foot speed. Tristan Thompson - There are very few players better at tracking down offensive rebounds than him. Cody Zeller – He’s averaging career highs in nearly every statistical category (points, rebounds, blocks, steals and field goal percentage). Jahlil Okafor – He’s getting buried behind Joel Embiid. He is still a very good post-up scorer with superb footwork and touch near the basket. However, minutes are down and he’s still not much of a defensive threat.
