SACRAMENTO ---- The Sacramento Kings today signed free agent forward Carl Landry to a multi-year contract, according to Kings General Manager Pete D'Alessandro. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Adding Carl provides depth and veteran leadership in our frontcourt," said D'Alessandro. "His professionalism and workmanlike approach to the game will also serve as a great example to our younger players. We're excited to have him join the team."
Landry returns to Sacramento after playing last season for the Golden State Warriors, where he averaged 10.8 points (.540 FG%, .333 3pt%, .817 FT%), 6.0 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 23.2 minutes per game in 81 games (started two) while helping guide Golden State into the second round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs.
During his time with the Kings, Landry posted averages of 14.0 points (.504 FG%, .729 FT%), 5.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 30.4 minutes per game in 81 contests. The Kings originally acquired Landry on Feb. 20, 2010 as part of a three-team trade with Houston. The forward played his first three seasons with the Rockets after being acquired by Houston from Seattle in a 2007 NBA Draft night deal (selected by the SuperSonics in the second round, 31st overall). He was later dealt by Sacramento to New Orleans for Marcus Thornton and cash considerations on Feb. 23, 2011.
For his career, Landry is averaging 11.9 points (.536 FG%, .784 FT%), 5.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 24.5 minutes per game in 389 career contests spanning six seasons with four different teams (Houston, Sacramento, New Orleans and Golden State). He has shot 50 percent or higher from the field in each of his six NBA campaigns and averaged 10 or more points in each of the last four seasons.
