DMC, USA Win Finale

DeMarcus Cousins saved his best performance of the Olympic Games for Sunday’s final as Team USA netted a 96-66 victory over Serbia.

Sound defensive play highlighted the opening quarter as Cousins dominated the boards, grabbing five rebounds and guiding the U.S. to a narrow 19-15 advantage.

While Team USA carried its defensive intensity into the second frame, Serbia was unable to match, allowing 33 points en route to a 23-point halftime advantage for the Americans. At the break, No. 12 had secured a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in just 10 minutes.

Unlike the prior matchup between the two teams, the Serbian National Team was unable to mount a comeback effort as Team USA’s offensive onslaught continued, led by Kevin Durant’s 30 points.

Cousins ended Sunday’s contest with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to round out a Tournament in which he averaged nine points and five rebounds.

Sacramento’s Draft night acquisition, Bogdan Bogdanovich, finished with seven points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists to complete an Olympic showing in which he averaged 12 points per contest.

With a medal secured, DMC will now turn his focus to preparing for Sacramento’s inaugural season at Golden 1 Center, which begins in October.
