Bogdanovic Brilliant in EuroLeague First Round
Playing some of the best basketball of his career, Bogdan Bogdanovic led his Fenerbache squad to the Final Four of the EuroLeague playoffs after a first-round sweep. The Serbian shooting guard - whose rights the Kings acquired in a trade last summer – has been red-hot from the field, tallying several notable stat lines throughout the first round.
During the series, Bogdanovic set his career-best for points in the postseason, not just once, but twice. After scoring a career-high 23 postseason points in the opening game against Panathinaikos, the 24-year-old guard followed up his spectacular play with 25 points in the following game.
Bogdanovic shot 62.5 percent from within the arc through the three games, effective both inside and outside the key – exemplified by his driving ability and solid midrange game. Perhaps more impressively, Bogdan shot 60 percent from long distance, attempting 20 total shots from beyond the arc in the three-game matchup.
Currently, Bogdanovic leads all EuroLeague players in total scoring in the postseason while averaging 19-plus points per game in addition to topping the league in three-pointers made.
Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos was unable to limit the guard’s effectiveness on either side of the ball, with Bogdan registering impressive offensive and defensive marks. In addition to the standout shooting performances, Fenerbache’s No. 13 averaged a steal and over one block per game. His steals and blocks totals rank among the league's top six players.
Bogdanovic’s brilliance didn’t stop there - in the playoffs, he’s leading his team in assists and sits among the EuroLeague's the top five in total assists. On the glass, the shooting guard is top two in the league in defensive rebounds per game while leading the EuroLeague in total defensive rebounds.
In three crucial games versus a powerhouse competitor, No. 13 filled up the stat sheet on both ends of the court, not only putting together some of the best numbers of his career, but some of the best in all of Europe.
