VANVLEET SELECTED TO 2022 NBA ALL-STAR GAME

The NBA announced Thursday that Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet has been
named a reserve for the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 20 at
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. VanVleet becomes just the eighth player in franchise
history to earn an All-Star selection. He is the first undrafted player in the NBA to be named an
All-Star since Ben Wallace in 2006.

VanVleet is averaging career highs of 21.5 points, 7.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 38.6
minutes in 44 games this season. He leads the NBA in minutes per game, ranks second in total
deflections (174), third in three-point field goals (171) and fifth in steals (75). VanVleet is
shooting .416 (320-770) from the field, .391 (171-437) from three-point range and .866 (136-
157) at the free throw line. He has scored 20+ points 22 times, including 30 or more on eight
occasions, and recorded nine double-doubles.

Highlighting VanVleet’s season was his first career triple-double with a season-best 37
points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists Jan. 7 vs. Utah – the most points scored in a triple-double in
franchise history. He scored 30+ points in three straight games (Dec. 31 – Jan. 4) and tallied a
career-high 17 assists Oct. 25 vs. Chicago. VanVleet also made at least three three-pointers in
a franchise record 17 consecutive games (Dec. 14 – Jan. 31).

NBA head coaches selected the reserves. Each coach voted for seven players in his
conference: two guards, three frontcourt players and tow additional players at any position. The
head coaches were not permitted to vote for players from their own team.
