RAPTORS SIGN SCHRÖDER

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have signed guard Dennis Schröder (SHROO-der) to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

            Schröder, 6-foot-3, 172 pounds, averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 30.1 minutes in 66 games (50 starts) with the Los Angeles Lakers last season. He shot .415 (270-650) from the field and .857 (216-252) from the free throw line. Schröder scored in double figures 41 times, led the team in scoring six times and assists in 12 games. In the playoffs, he averaged 7.4 points, 2.9 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 26.1 minutes in 16 games (three starts).

            “Dennis is fierce, he’s creative, and above all, he’s competitive,” Raptors Vice-Chairman and President Masai Ujiri said. “We’re excited to welcome Dennis to Toronto, and are looking forward to seeing him on the Scotiabank Arena court.”

            A native of Braunschweig, Germany, Schröder has played 10 seasons in the NBA after being selected 17th overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2013 NBA Draft. He has appeared in 687 NBA games (317 starts) for Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Los Angeles, Boston and Houston, owning career averages of 14.0 points (.434 FG%, .337 3PT%, .836 FT%), 2.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 26.8 minutes. Schröder has appeared in 68 postseason contests (15 starts), averaging 11.9 points, 3.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 24.9 minutes. 

Prior to being drafted by the Hawks, Schröder played three seasons (2010-2013) with Basketball Löwen Braunschweig – a club based in Braunschweig, Germany. His international accolades include helping the German National Team win a bronze medal at the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket where he averaged team-highs of 22.1 points and 7.1 assists leading to a EuroBasket All-Tournament Team selection. He also represented Germany at EuroBasket in 2017 and in 2015.
